StartUpSity Terms of Service

1. Treat other StartUpSity Members with respect.

In general, StartUpSity Members acting within or on StartUpSity behalf should aim to be honest and ethical in their dealings with each other, with community members, project users, partners, suppliers and the public.
StartUpSity Members will not practice or tolerate discrimination on the basis of place of origin, ethnicity, citizenship, gender, age, political or religious affiliation, sexual orientation, marital status, family relationship, or economic or medical status. StartUpSity aims to treat all StartUpSity Members with respect, and to foster a productive environment free of harassment, intimidation and discrimination.
StartUpSity Members acting on StartUpSity behalf may not bring weaponry to StartUpSity premises, behave violently, or threaten violence.

2. Respect confidentiality.

StartUpSity Members acting within or on StartUpSity behalf must respect and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information they have gained due to their association within StartUpSity. This may include personal information about community members or members of the general public, and/or information about the internal workings of StartUpSity or its partners or suppliers.

3. Protect StartUpSity property.

StartUpSity Members acting on StartUpSity behalf should seek to take good care of StartUpSity or Members property, and not expose it to loss, damage, misuse or theft. StartUpSity or Members property should be used solely for legitimate purposes and not for personal benefit. Generally, StartUpSity Members should use common sense and moderation when using StartUpSity or Members resources.

4. Maintain accurate, honest and complete books and records.

StartUpSity books, records, accounts and financial statements must be maintained in appropriate detail, and must conform both to applicable law and to StartUpSity internal systems of controls.

5. Represent the best interests of StartUpSity and its Members.

StartUpSity and its Members acting on StartUpSity behalf should aim to advance StartUpSity and its Members legitimate interests, and should never do anything that could bring StartUpSity and its Members into disrepute.

The intent of this policy is to ensure that Resources who have access to public and nonpublic data covered by the StartUpSity privacy policy are personally and legally accountable.

  1. Only persons whose identity is known to StartUpSity and its Members shall be permitted to have access to any public and nonpublic data or other public and nonpublic information produced, collected, or otherwise held by the StartUpSity, where that data or other information is restricted from disclosure by the StartUpSity Privacy Policy.
  2. 2. Any Resource who is chosen by any community process to be granted access rights to restricted data shall not be granted that access until that Resource has satisfactorily identified himself or herself to StartUpSity and its Members, which may include proof that such user is at least 18 and explicitly over the age at which they are capable to act without the consent of their parent in the jurisdiction in which they reside.
  3. 3. Any Resource who holds such access rights at the time of the adoption of this resolution must satisfactorily identify himself or herself to StartUpSity and its Members, or have any and all such access rights revoked. Resources otherwise in good standing whose access is revoked for failure to identify may have those access rights restored after providing identification, at the discretion of StartUpSity and its Members.
  4. Resource positions covered by this resolution include, without limitation, all stewards, all holders of the "user" and rights, and all developers with access to any electronic records which contains nonpublic information (such as the IP addresses of readers or contributors).
  5. The access policies for e-mail queues or other communication systems of the StartUpSity are defined by office staff in accordance with the intent of this policy.
  6. 6. Access to deleted revisions on a publicly editable project, such as that held by administrators, is not sufficient to require identification under this policy.
  7. 7. Identifying information disclosed to StartUpSity and its Members by a Resource in compliance with this policy shall be treated as confidential, nonpublic information and shall not be released except consistent with the StartUpSity Privacy Policy.
  8. 8. Exceptions to this policy may be made only by resolution of the Board of Trustees.
